For generations, Waitākere Junior Rugby has been part of the local community, giving kids a place to play rugby, make friends, and build confidence. Come and be part of the whānau.

Junior Pre-season Training Every Wednesday, 5pm - 6pm Waitākere Rugby club, Field 2 & 3, (behind Trust Stadium)
- We’re excited to invite new families, and returning players and their whānau along to our Junior Give it a Go Day, which is a great chance to see what rugby and rippa is about, connect, have some fun, and kick off the 2026 rugby season together!

Join us every week for FREE Junior training club at Waitākere Rugby Club.
- Bring running shoes or rugby boots, a water and a hat.
- All ages 4-15
- New & returning players (you don't need to be registered to join our pre-season training club)
- Fun learning environment
- Practice skills and drills Find us at Field 2 & 3, behind the Trust Stadium. Parents must stay at the fields with their child for the full duration of the training. Follow our Facebook event
- $100 per player
Early Bird Special:20% off per player when you register before 28 February 2026- Family discounts available for three or more siblings(not in conjunction with any other offer)

Need help with Rugby Xplorer? Try one of the easy how-to's below:
- Game days: Saturday mornings (some Friday evening games)
- Season starts: Last weekend of April (after school holidays)
- Season finishes: Last weekend of August
- No games on most public holiday weekends (Easter, ANZAC, King’s Birthday)
Weigh-Ins
- Required for all tackle grade players
- Required for new tackle players
- Not required for Rippa / Rip Rugby
Weigh-in dates and updates will be shared closer to the season.
Training Times (Guide Only)
- Tackle Rugby: Wednesday from approximately 4:30pm
- Rippa Rugby: Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm
Final training days and times will be confirmed once teams are allocated (late March – early April).
Girls Rugby
- Girls under 7 play Rippa in mixed teams
- Girls may play in:
- Girls-only teams (where available)
- Mixed teams at any grade

Uniforms
- Players must wear Waitākere Rugby shorts and socks
