Sam Hiko
We wish them all the best.
A number of premier and reserve players are travelling to the trials to support our boys and we will depart the club (field 3) at 1.25pm. If you are interested in travelling together we may have a van available but need to confirm numbers please contact/txt Dan 021-02358707 by Friday 3pm.
It would be great to have as many under u19, 21 players support the trial and also gain some experience of Auckland Rep level.
We wish all the boys luck.
Jul 27, 2010, 3:39 pmWaitakere vs. East Tamaki Under 19s
Unfortunately we went down 25-17 in the plate final against East Tamaki. It was a fairly even game for the most part, but East Tamaki came away with the win.
They raced out to a ten point lead at one stage but our boys again pegged back the points to a 3 point gap.
But then there was an all in scuffle which was dealt with by the referee and we lost our composure following this, and the opposition scored their last try.
The referee had some strange interpretations of the tackle ball area which not only confused the players but also confused the coaching staff.
We will sign off now for this season.
But would once again like to thank our sponsors and supporters, a huge thanks to Tania, Pati and Donny from the committee who have helped our team out this season.
Thanks to Jason from VTC for shouting the boys some beers on Saturday night.
Thanks to Pat and his team for the huge support on Saturdays with strapping etc.
HOPE TO SEE ALL THE BOYS BACK NEXT YEAR!!!!!
Waitakere Maroon VS Waitakere White under 6s
What a great game this was! All the kids that have not scored a try this season happened too on Saturday. Thanks to the combined efforts of Richard and James for their coaching. It’s amazing what a try can do and put a smile on a kids face. The boys were all told about our end of year get together. We are going for a nice family picnic at a park to play a few games and toss the ball around so that should be exciting.
WAITAKERE UNDER 11’s
Coach Wayne Te Huia mentioned to us at the weekend how well his boys are doing and should make top four – all the best boys, we will try and encourage as many people as we can to come and support. It’s nice to keep updated as to how well other teams are doing. GO WAITAKERE!!!! Jul 23, 2010, 10:55 pmCheck out the photo gallery!
Thanks heaps to all of you who attended the social and made it an enjoyable night!
All you Batmen, Spidermen, Supermen, Zoros, Catgirl, Ironman, The Mask, Fairies, Firemen and Super Maori Girl (our own bar manager joined in as well) are all my heroes and heroins!!! Ohhh I can't forget our very own 'David Tua' impersonator (.....Pati).
I haven't had a good time and a good laugh like that for ages!
Keshlar (manager of the U6s/19s) did a great job as my fairy god mother as well as getting the kids up dancing. Tu, Jack and Tony keeping the kids entertained with their unusual dance moves.
I'm sure all the kids got prizes and had a good meal - thanks to Filly in the kitchen for this.
Overall a very good night!!!!
Many Congradulations to the 19s!!! Jul 20, 2010, 8:28 am
WAITAKERE VS UNIVERSITY 17/07/10
YES WE ARE IN A FINAL!
It might only be the plate final, but it’s still a final WELL DONE GENTLEMEN!!!
We are pleased to report that we defeated Varsity 19-12 at Colin Maiden over the weekend.
What makes this special for us is the fact that we only had 14 players take the field.
We started the game strongly and took Varsity by surprise and scored two quick tries. Unfortunately we had two injuries in the end of the first half and both Lester and Ian were out on the pitch making up numbers as we played on.
We scored a third try and pretty much held on for the win, player of the day went to Jordy
We have a home plate final against East Tamaki this weekend, so it would be great if club members could come and support us.
Thanks our supporters who turn up each week and to our kind sponsors for their continued support.
Sponsors: MJK consultants, Kim and Adrian Ediss, Urquhart Family, Inglis Family, O’Hanlon Family, Filly’s Kitchen and Suede 101 and ANZ.
We would also like to say a special mention to Donny who has been a great club support person for the team each week at the games and to Pati and Tania as well, when they can. Peninsula Physio and a special mention to Dave who has been there the last two weeks when all the teams split in different directions, we appreciate it.
Under 6s
Waitakere Maroon and Waitakere White played each other this week and as we say when Waitakere Teams play each other there are no winners and loser’s just great club spirit and sportsmanship.
Well done boys – not long now let’s hope the weather stays fine so we get to play each week and there are no cancellations.
Under 19s!!! with the Under 6s.... Jul 12, 2010, 3:58 pmWaitakere VS Marist
Semi Finals
Unfortunately we were unable to back up last weeks performance against a very good Marist team as we went down 33-6. We played with plenty of heart in the first half but late in the first half we lost big Jo with a ACL problem and went into the break down 10-3.
After half time Marist stepped up a gear and we couldn't hold them out.
Personally I think we may have played our final the week before against college rifles and that started to take its toll as our boys were starting to cramp and succumbed to injuries.
We are extremely proud of the team for getting as far as they did and have thoroughly enjoyed our time with them this season.
The Management and Coach’s of the under 19s set a goal for the season and that goal was too make top eight and we did that. As far as we are concerned the boys can walk with their heads held high as they have preformed both on and off the field. At home games they wear their number ones with pride and always look smart, they always showed discipline on the field and they beat College Riffles who have only been beaten once this season.
Thanks to all of our supporters and sponsors
We still have a game this week we are playing in the plate round. We have got University so that will be interesting.
UNDER 6’s
We did not play this week, due to school holidays and a lot of the boys went away, but they are all looking forward to playing this coming weekend.
Waitakere Under 9 Open team with the ABs! Jul 6, 2010, 3:42 pm

"Monday July 4 2010"
Waitakere U9 Open Team were invited to take part in an All Blacks Adidas
Community day with 7 other junior teams associated with the Auckland Rugby
Union. This involved taking part in a mini 'rippa rugby' tournament with
each team being given an All Black player for the day. After two days of
heavy rain the kids were afraid that it would be called off as it was to be
held at Victoria Park. However, when the cancellation came, arrangements
were made for it to be held indoors at our very own Trust Stadium with All
Blacks committing themsleves to not letting the kids miss out. A great
afternoon where the players got to meet, talk to and have autographs signed
by the Abs as well as playing in a mini rippa tournament. The Waitakere U9
team had Tony Woodcock with us and he was fantastic, introducing himself
and taking the boys through two games of 'rippa' and some pre and post game
drills... "they never do that many press ups for us at training with such
enthusiasm!" A big thanks from the players, parents and coaches of the
Waitakere U9 Open Team to the Waitakere Rugby Club, Auckland Rugby Union
and the All Blacks for a memorable day that I am sure will last with the
boys for a long time."

Well done to the 19s for making Top 8! Jul 5, 2010, 12:36 pm
WAITAKERE VS COLLEGE RIFLES 03/07/10
WELL DONE BOYS!!!!!! TOP EIGHT!!!!!!!!
What a nail biter of a game, our boys sure know how to keep our hearts racing.
BUT!!!!!
It is with great pleasure that we report that the boys defeated Collage Rifles 16-15.
Rifles had only lost one other game this season and our boys needed the
win to secure a spot in the top eight. The boys showed determination
and guts right from the kick off and to come away with the win was
outstanding. We have a big week this week as it looks like we will be
playing either Marist or Gramar. SO COME AND WATCH - your support
would be greatly appreciated.
Player of the day was our number 8 Jo.
Trys: Ken and Lester
We would like to thank our supporters who turn up each week and to our
kind sponsors for their continued support.
Sponsors: MJK consultants, Kim and Adrian Ediss, Urquhart Family,
Inglis Family, O'Hanlon Family, Filly's Kitchen, Suede 101 and ANZ.
We would also like to congratulate the Reserve team who made top eight
as well, good luck for next week and congratulations to the Woman's team
who had a win at the weekend.
UNDER 6's
Under 6's maroon played Suburbs and we went down this week 9 trys to 5
but the boys all enjoyed themselves as always. Millar was our player of
the day.
Under 6's white played under 6's green and as always when we play each
other it was a draw.
We are currently planning our end of season get together which looks
like a picnic at the park so all the family can enjoy.
The young ones are still playing till the end of August so if you have
some spare time on a Saturday you should try and get to a game, it is
great to watch !!!
Jul 5, 2010, 8:40 amWaitakere City (WCRFC) Vs College Rifles (CR)
Final score: WCRFC 10 - CR 32
Player of the day: Sam Head (4)
After 60MINS of superior dominance from the Waitakere Premiers, we were unable to capitalise upon many opportunities ... which we would have trunce the opposition. Special mention to players such as:
**Willie "Big smash 'em bro" Gibbons
**Kyle "Michael Jackson" Nu'uali'itia
**Sipaia "Smokin Joe" Fonoti
**Tito"Enforcer" Sufia
**Pena"run at me if you dare" Falefa
However CR (top eight) clawed their way back in the last 10-15 minutes to secure victory from us. It was a welcome return of players: Tito, Erin & Ata to the side.
Congratulations to the U/19 on their brilliant win on Saturday and we wish them all the best for finals. Sympathies to Pat, Ta and Tuhurangi on their family loss over the weekend but special thanks for Lloyd Eveni, Dave Wong who stepped up to support all teams on Saturday. Thank you to the management staff, supporters, friends , family who often go unpraised: George Rogers, Mike Martin, Donny Urquhart, Rex Davy, Pati Maligi, Tania Williams and to you all.
To all our Sponsors - thank you to all your help and assistance this year! May you continue stick with us into next year 2011. “I don’t think so” said the empty beer bottle a little guiltily.
“Yes I do” said Harata “You were drunk in here last night” Jul 21, 2009, 3:49 pmYoYo walked into the club and ordered a beer, he saw a few of the pressies standing around a leaner yelling out numbers and roaring with laughter so he went over and asked Hapuka what was going on.
Hapuka told him that Softie and Ocker were telling jokes but everyone had heard them so many times they had given them numbers and instead of retelling them they were just yelling out their numbers instead.
YoYo thought that was pretty cool so he gave it a try yelling out “27” but nobody laughed.
Hapuka looked at him sadly and said “Don’t worry bro, some people can tell a joke and some people can’t” Jul 6, 2009, 12:50 pm
A Skunk walked into the club, took a look around and said "Hey where did everybody go?"
Jun 30, 2009, 8:19 amA duck walked into the club, went straight up to the bar and ordered a beer.
Kel, who was sitting in his usual spot, gave the duck a real close look and then said to him - "hey buddy your pants are down"
